There is much anecdotal information about the call of the Tibetan singing bowls and how they find their rightful owners. I’d like to share my story.

It is a story of unexpected healing at the darkest time in my life through the arrival of a single singing bowl, sent I believe,  by the universe to heal my heart that I may share healing with others

 My story:

Deepest despair to overflowing joy …

By the close of 2019 I was emotionally broken, I was in India for the first time, grieving.

In the space of nine months I had experienced the collapse of my business, financial bankruptcy, the deaths of my beloved Mum & Dad and another close family member .

My heart was broken.

I’d travelled to India to get away from it all. It was a distraction and a bucket list ‘tick’ for me.

 A singing bowl finds me …

I wanted to buy a singing bowl, while at Sarnath (where Buddha gave his first sermon after enlightenment), I didn’t even know why, I just wanted one - as a yoga accessory I guess.

 The buying process was chaotic, which anyone who’s been to India will know, lots of shouting, negotiating vendors following me along the street, bargaining and lowering the price. My husband, Tim, was with me and fending off an overly excited vendor who’d followed us for several stalls. I paused at a different stall and spotted a bowl, I may have touched it, I don’t know I can’t remember, but without any perceivable negotiation it was wrapped in newspaper and slipped into my bag, Tim was stumping up a very reasonable price for it.

 I hadn’t played it and yet here it was.

Later I was to discover it was a bowl resonant with the heart chakra, how strange that it should find its way into my hands - my heart so broken at the time…

It’s arrival changed everything.

Later on that trip, a chance meeting with a man called Altaf and my life took a turn I could never have imagined.

Altaf had a jewellery store in Goa, he and I became friends as I daily, sometimes twice-daily, visited and bought some beautiful pieces to bring home. He had a display of magnificent bowls, many with mantra carvings and beautiful designs.

One evening Altaf started sharing his knowledge with me, despite the fact I didn’t buy one of his bowls, imagine Tim’s surprise when he walked in to find me after several hours, cross-legged on the floor of the shop gently tapping a bowl upside down on my head!

 I’m hooked on bowls!

 Altaf taught me a great deal that day, and I was so grateful to him, but when I came home Covid had emerged, it was lockdown and our India trip was a distant memory.

Except… I couldn’t stop thinking about the bowls I’d seen, and with no real agenda one day I messaged Altaf to ask if it were possible to send me some bowls – I thought some of my yoga friends might like them.

Fast forward four years and I’ve now handled many thousands of handmade bowls Altaf’s supplied (I have created an online retail outlet www.soulsoothingbowls.com) and not any one of them is the same – they all have their own character, their own layers of notes, resonance and healing energy. Just like humans every bowl is unique and different. Each bowl has its’ own healing vibrations to offer.

I deepen my knowledge…

I’ve since added to my personal Sound Energy Practitioner & Sound Healing qualifications reading and learning as much as I can about these beautiful celestial healing bowls, and other instruments.

I’ve trained with  the acclaimed spiritual healer Lola Lhamo SEMPA (London/Bali) including Vibroacoustic massage and Sacred Geometry and Foundation level Integrated sound Healing (multi-instrument) with The Sound Healing Academy (International). I continue to read and learn and am hoping to return to India this year to train further with one of Altaf’s colleagues.

My personal healing …

The sound and vibration from my first bowl, which I played every day on and around my body, helped me become calmer, it was soothing and I found I was able to navigate my grief, start to re-build my rock-bottom self-esteem, and reduce the crushing anxiety - all without my go-to prescription medication!

Decades of conditioning fall away…

Day by day, the energy shift from the sound of my Himalayan bow worked in unexpected ways and enabled me to shed emotional pain and past conditioning held in my tissues for decades—conditioning that had kept me small, unseen, and stuck in unhelpful patterns of behaviour.

Energy shifts…

As my knowledge, bowl collection, and playing skills grew, I discovered energetic shifts that helped me manage pain from osteoarthritis and unexpectedly I found freedom to express my voice and reconnect with my creativity and feminine energy.

During this transformative time, I became alcohol-free and rediscovered true joy and purpose in my life.

“HEAL” training is born…

Subsequently I created the “HEAL” Singing Bowl Academy, offering training and healing retreats to others by sharing the transformative healing vibe from singing bowls!

The impact of vibrational energy from my singing bowls was so transformational that I became inspired to share these healing vibrations with others.

They call me ‘The Fire Starter’…

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the incredible transformations that occur when individuals embrace the power of sound healing. Some of my past students lovingly refer to me as "the  fire starter" because our time together ignited a spark that led them to do remarkable things with their healing gifts. It’s a testament to how powerful and transformative this work can be.

My ongoing study under leading sound healers has been remarkable and continues every day, allowing me to share the knowledge of Sacred Sound and Healing Vibrations with you.
